Christmas Rice Krispies Treats

I love making festive, pretty treats during the holidays, but I also want to keep things simple. Inspired by my kid (who adores rice krispies treats and Airhead Xtreme candy), I created these "presents," which are a fun variation of regular rice krispies treats.

You can quickly whip these together to add holiday flair to a Christmas cookie tray or dessert table, or give these as a gift to friends.

These would also be fun to make for a kids' school holiday party or a Christmas potluck.

Should I use homemade or store-bought rice krispies treats?

You can make these using homemade rice krispies treats, but if you want to make things even easier on yourself, opt for store bought variety. In fact, I prefer the store-bought kind because they're cut into absolutely perfect rectangles, perfect for wrapping candy bows around them!

Once you get the hang of creating the candy bow, these little present treats come together really fast. I've posted a video below on the bow making process, which will help you understand the steps.

Instructions:

The easiest way to make these is by watching the video above, but here are written instructions for those who prefer it!

Step 1: Cut the candy strips in half lengthwise so they are thinner.

Step 2: Wrap the candy strip around the long way of the rice krispies treat and cut off the extra. Press the candy strip into the rice krispies treat so that it sticks to it.

Step 3: Wrap the candy strip around the short way of the rice krispies treat and cut off the extra. Press it into the treat so it sticks. You should have a cross on top of the rice krispies treat.
