About the blog:
I started this blog in 2015 as a way to share my journey to creating a simpler and better life for myself and my family. I was feeling overwhelmed by the “shoulds” and the busy-ness of life, and I wanted to slow down and savor what’s truly important.
While I’ve written about a variety of topics related to simplifying, over time I found myself gravitating toward food as my main focus. I love creating and sharing recipes, and helping busy parents feed their families well.
To borrow a quote from the Penzey Spice company: “Love People. Feed Them Tasty Food.”
That is my goal. And with that mission in mind, I have been concentrating primarily on the following topics:
Easy Recipes and Family Dinner Ideas
My husband and I have always been foodies. When we were first married, cooking meant trying out fun recipes from “Gourmet Magazine” or “Food and Wine” on the weekends, and lingering over glasses of wine and leisurely dinners.
Then we had kids!
Now that we’re a family of four, cooking has taken on a new meaning. We still love and appreciate really good food, but we need our dinners to be uncomplicated, tween friendly, and easy.
In addition to cooking for my family, I love to entertain. I’m a big advocate of scruffy hospitality, meaning that the emphasis is on the gathering of people instead of trying to make everything perfect.
I’m a wife of 19 years and a mom of two middle school girls, currently living in Houston, TX.
I grew up in central Pennsylvania, and I’ve also lived in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and Phoenix.
My #1 goal with this blog is to share things that inspire, that encourage, and that make life better without making it more complicated. I love hearing from readers, so feel free to contact me at any time to let me know your thoughts, to share any tips of your own, or to let me know what parts of your life you’d like to make simpler and better.
